About the Competition
How is Europe connected to you and your life? Are you learning a European language? Have you ever been to Europe? Do you have friends from Europe? What does Europe mean to your life? Are you interested in European culture, history, or movies? What do you think about Europe? Share with us your thoughts, ideas, and impressions of Europe, its people, music, literature, cuisine, education, art, etc. Send us your short clip and win a prize!

 

Competition Details

  1. Purpose of the program: The competition aims to encourage students to share their experiences about Europe and engage in discussions about the meaning of Europe. Show us your impressions of Europe! Did you travel there? Did you make friends there? Are you learning a European language? What means Europe to your life? Are you interested in European culture or movies? Or European history? What do you think about the European Union? Or you want to share something about European music, literature, art… 
  2. Eligibility: Open to students of Wenzao University of Foreign Languages.
  3. Application: Apply online here.
  4. Submission: Upload your video to this link.
  5. Theme: The main theme is "My Europe" and all contributions should be related to the theme.
  6. Competition Schedule
     Deadline for submitting entries: extended to 2023/11/12  (Sun) 11:59 pm
     Videos are publicly announced: 2023/11/13 (Wed) 12:00 noon
    IG Popular Video Promotion Period: 2023/11/13(Wed) 12:00pm to 2023/11/27(Mon) 12:00pm
    Judging: 2023/11/27(Mon) 12:00pm (IG will be closed for vote counting)
    Announcement of winners: 2023/12/1 (Fri)
  7. Prizes and Awards
    1) EXPERT JURY:  1st price: 3,000 TWD + Goodie Pack; 2nd price: 2,000 TWD + Goodie Pack; |
    2) AUDIENCE AWARD (voted online): 1,000 TWD + Goodie pack 
    Certificates are awarded to all price winners! 
  8. Film Specifications
    • Length: 1 minute (excluding credits, credits must be 10 seconds at most at the end of the video, within 10 seconds credits there should be 3 seconds GIES logo).
    • Genre of video: Unlimited (360-degree videos are not accepted).
    • Language: Preferably in Chinese or English (English subtitles are required for other languages).
    • Video format: MP4 format (must be able to upload to IG o).
    • Video resolution: Vertical aspect ratio 9:16, 1080P, file size must not be larger than 500MB.
    •  Soundtrack: Self-composed, using "Creative Commons licensed music" (marked in the end credits in accordance with the licensing regulations).
    • The theme of the video must be filled in the submission form along with all group members when uploading the video. 
    Only short films that meet the above criteria will be included in the popularity contest after a preliminary review by the organizer.
  9. Judging Method

    Two top entries will be selected by a professional team of judges based on the following evaluation criteria:
    (1) Creativity and uniqueness and creativity: 50%
    (2) Fluency and relevance of the movie to the theme: 30%
    (3) Artistic work and visual aesthetics: 20%
    The audience choice contest will be judged as follows:
    (1) The number of people reached by the IG video: 20%
    (2) Number of IG video shares: 25%
    (3) Number of IG video "Likes": 30%
    (4) Number of IG video views: 25%
     

  10. Notes:

    The main theme is "My Europe". Participants are advised to read the rules and regulations carefully and abide by them. 
    • The organizer will conduct a preliminary review of the entries and exclude those with incomplete information, inappropriate themes, or obvious infringement concerns, and the content must not involve violence, pornography, politics, or other issues. Failure to comply with regulations or copyright rules may lead to disqualification from the competition and might result in returning the prize money, prizes, and other related rewards.
    • The organizer will review the entries and eliminate those with incomplete information, inappropriate themes, or obvious copyright infringement concerns, as well as those with content that does not involve topics that violate relevant laws or school rules.
    • Entries are limited to original works that have not been published at home or abroad, and the entrant(s) must be the original creator of the work and have copyright and property rights over the work. The entrant must be the original creator of the entry and have copyright and property rights over the entry. Participants must not plagiarize, imitate, or infringe on the rights of others, and must not quote any pictures, articles, or entries that have copyright or portrait rights. The Organizer may cancel the submission when the submission does not comply with the rules and regulations.
    • Submission of the application is deemed to be the participant's agreement to authorize the organizer and its partners to use the videos, pictures, and explanatory texts of the entries as the results of the competition and display them on websites and social media accounts.
    • The use of inappropriate means of publicity, such as the use of malicious computer software or other means that violate the fairness of the event, with the intention of confusing or influencing the results of the event, is prohibited. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify a participant from the competition or the award once the violation is detected and the participant shall be held legally liable for any legal responsibility and loss.
    • In accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act, the information submitted by the entrants will only be used for the purpose of this competition organized by the Wenzao Graduate Institute of European Studies. It will not be used for any other purpose without the consent of the applicant, and the organizer will be subject to the University's data retention and security control.
